CPAP

CPAP delivers positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP). Consider in all type 1 respiratory failures who remain hypoxic on high-flow oxygen. It's predominant use is in acute pulmonary oedema: the pale, sweaty, breathless patient with normo/hypertension and rales to the upper lung fields. Get the CPAP on early and start nitrates at high-dose.
